CAD Technician Geotechnical

Role Overview:

• Complete basic CAD and BIM design tasks under the direction of engineers.
• Lead drafting activities for the geotechnical discipline and support CAD teams in workload management, detailing practices, and work procedures.
• Prepare accurate drawings in compliance with WSP Swedish CAD Standards and agreed timescales.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and edit drawings and sketches from engineers’ basic sketches to full working drawings.
• Generate sections, schedules, and schematics from general arrangement drawings.
• Coordinate and support the Global Complementary Centres CAD team.
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks and concerns, to the line manager.
• Attend team and project meetings as required.
• Support the company’s sustainability approach.
• Identify improvements to enhance client service.
• Lead by example and support QMS compliance across the team.
• Complete accurate timesheets by the required deadline.

Mandatory Skills:

• Geotechnical engineering drafting experience.
• AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
• Civil 3D.
• Client relationships, collaboration, teamwork, technical delivery, adaptability, and learning.

Desired Skills:

• MicroStation.
• GIS.
• Indium.
• Chaos Desktop.
• ProjectWise.
• Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
• Experience providing accurate work, meeting deadlines, and responding to client feedback.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma in a relevant drafting discipline.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Ability to produce plans, sections, and details from engineers’ sketches.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, including X-Refs, Lisp, blocks, layers, model space, paper space, viewports, pen settings, and AutoCAD utilities.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Reference Manager and CAD customization.
• Good knowledge of the relevant discipline.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and LAN environments.
• Working knowledge of BIM software packages.
